Ten candidates are currently undergoing the Badminton Asia Regional Umpires Training Course 2019 for South and West Asia in Male, Maldives.
Held in conjunction with the Li-Ning Maldives International Future Series in Male, the course runs from September 13-23 at the Male's Sports Complex.
Hosts Maldives have two candidates while Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, India, Lebanon, and Nepal have one each.
The course conductors are Mr. Sudhakar Vemuri from India and Ms. Zheng Sanliang from China.
The aspiring umpires will be judged on theory plus practical and those who pass will be selected as candidates for next year's Badminton Asia accreditation course.
